Ukrainian Photographies is an archive dedicated to researching the photographic practices of artists from Ukraine and the broader Eastern European region. The project aims to assemble the most comprehensive collection of materials that document, analyse, and reinterpret photographic local movements, individual series, and artists’ practices — both historical and contemporary. Our goal is to provide access to knowledge that is often scarce or, in some cases, simply absent — due to a range of factors: the lack of institutions, economic instability, limited international attention to the region, or just because the work has yet to be done.
This archive is created by researchers and curators — for photographers, curators, scholars, students and anyone interested in photography, history, and culture.
By producing and making these materials accessible, Ukrainian Photographies contribute to the re-evaluation of Ukrainian and Eastern European visual heritage and foster dialogue between local and global photographic discourses.
