Anastasiya Kholyavka is Head of the Urban Media Archive (2022 – present) and a researcher at the Center for Urban History. She completed her postgraduate studies at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in 2018. In 2023, she was an intern at the Center for Contemporary and Digital History at the University of Luxembourg, and in 2024 completed the Photograph Care and ID course at the Gawain Weaver Conservation Studio.

 

Since joining the Urban Media Archive in 2020 as part of the Un/archiving the Post/Industry project, she has worked on archiving private and institutional collections from eastern Ukraine, digitising photographic collections, including glass negatives and prints, and developing digital tools for archival work. Since 2022, she has led the Urban Media Archive, overseeing its development with a particular focus on private collections.

 

Her research focuses on souvenir photography in Soviet Ukraine during the 1940s and 1950s. Her broader interests include everyday culture, the materiality of photography, and vernacular photography.
