Oleksandra Kushchenko is an art critic, researcher, lecturer, and curator based in Lviv. She graduated from the School of Journalism at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and holds an MA in Cultural Studies from the Lviv National Academy of Arts. Her research focuses on the history and theory of art and photography, art institutions, and cultural processes, with a particular emphasis on the artistic life of Lviv in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
She is the author of the educational projects (Istor)ii Mystetstv (Ukrainian for “(Her)Stories of Art”) and (Istor)ii Fotografii (Ukrainian for “(Her)Stories of Photography”), developed in collaboration with the NGO Feminist Workshop. She is also the host of the podcast Ukrainian Women Artists: Seeing and Hearing (2025), produced by the NGO Lviv Cultural Centre and the Lviv Radio municipal enterprise in partnership with the Lviv Cultural Hub and UNESCO, with financial support from AECID.
Since 2014, she has been the founder and editor of ArtLvivOnline, an independent media platform dedicated to Lviv’s contemporary art scene.
